Lottery
What is the lottery Club?
Started in 1998 it is a '200 Club' style lottery in which 50% of all subscriptions
to the Club are returned to members through a monthly draw for three prizes.
Each subscription 'buys' a number entered in the monthly draw. An individual
can buy up to FIVE numbers.
What happens to the profit?
All the profit is spent on school projects as decided by the committee
members of the Friends of South Wolds School.
How big are the prizes?
That all depends on how many people join. Usually there have been nearly
200 numbers with monthly prizes worth just under £100 (eg. £46
for 1st, £27 of 2nd & £18 for 3rd).
If one family per student bought just one number per year it would raise £6000
in just one year for the school with a 1st prize each month of £300;
2nd prize of £180 and 3rd prize of £120
When are the prizes drawn?
Once a month for TEN months, October to July inclusive. Usually near
the end of each month and sometimes at Friends of South Wolds events.
How much does it cost to join?
Only £10 per number for the full year, payable before the first draw
in October. You can join in later and then you will pay £1 for
each draw remaining in the year until we close the membership in March
(when
there are only 5 draws to go). We will allocate your numbers and you
will receive a membership card.
